There is no cost to you. Heritage Bank offers electronic bill payment free of charge.

Registration is easy. The first time you log in to online banking, you will be prompted to begin online registration. After reading and accepting the authorization disclosure, you may proceed to the online registration form. Once completed, your form goes directly to Heritage Bank, where we carefully review your information and set up your new account through our bill payment provider, FIS.

When your account is ready to access, you will receive an email acceptance. At this point you will be able to click on "Bill Pay" while signed on to online banking and access your account.

Yes. You can schedule weekly, semimonthly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual or annual recurring payments. The final payment of a recurring payment scheme is designated by a "Final Payment Date." Or you can set up a recurring payment to happen indefinitely.

When you update the information for the bill payment payee account, the changes take effect immediately. When you make changes to the account your bills are debited from, this can take up to 3 business days to complete. Please contact us or visit one of our convenient locations for assistance in this process.

You can delegate any checking account for bill payment purposes. Savings, money market, CDs and loan accounts are not applicable.

You can schedule payments 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All bill payment transactions become part of the online banking transaction history and show up in personal financial management applications when the transaction history is downloaded. The description posted to the account will show as MoneyLine Express – BILL PAYMT.

You can add payees by accessing the "Add Payee" option under the Payee screen. New payees will be added to the payee list immediately.

Bill Pay provides you with peace of mind when you are traveling for an extended period of time. All you need is access to the Internet with a secure browser, and you can pay your bills while out of the country. Payees must be located within the 50 United States and territories.

Anyone in the 50 United States and territories who can accept a check may be paid using the bill payment system. You can pay practically anyone-charge accounts, utilities, auto loans, professionals, even a lawn service or a relative. However, tax payments (such as federal, state and local) and court directed payments (such as alimony and child support) cannot be processed through our online bill payment system.

Yes, you may set up payments during the weekend. However, the system will prohibit you from scheduling a single payment and the first of a recurring payment on the same weekend. This is because payments scheduled for the weekend are always processed on the Friday before.

Therefore, when scheduling payments on a weekend, the first day for which you can schedule payments (single or recurring) is the first business day following the weekend.

Generally, single or recurring payments that fall on a Saturday, Sunday or a bank holiday are processed on the previous business day and are debited from your account within two business days. If a bank holiday falls on either a Friday or Monday, the debit will occur within three days.

Your account is debited via ACH. Each bill payment is debited separately.

Automated Clearing House (ACH) is a funds transfer system which provides for the interbank clearing of electronic entries for participating financial institutions.

If you select an electronic payee with an address that is different from that indicated on the payment coupon, you are responsible for the late fee.

A payment may be edited or deleted any time before the "process date." Payments that have been remitted electronically cannot be stopped. To place a stop payment on a bill pay that is issued by check, please contact our Customer Service Center at (800) 455-6126 or visit one of our convenient locations.

Enhanced Security Login

We use enhanced multi-factor authentication (MFA) to establish your identity and protect you against unlawful logins. On any "unrecognized" device, you will be asked to send a one-time passcode (OTP). This six digit number will be used to authenticate you to use online or mobile banking.

Adding extra security protection to your computer allows us to recognize your computer along with your normal log-in information, which helps add additional protection from unauthorized access to your accounts. If someone were to get your log-in information and try to access your account from their computer, having extra security protection will stop them from gaining access because they will be asked for information that only you know.

When you add extra security to your computer, a secure cookie will be placed on your computer. This secure cookie is unique, and when used in combination with your log-in information, creates a unique way to identify you to the system. For every attempt to log in after you add extra security to one computer, this secure cookie is validated along with the log-in identification you normally enter. This secure cookie is only used by Heritage Bank to validate your identity and does not contain any personal information.

A cookie is a very small text file placed on your hard drive by a Web Page server. It is essentially your identification card and cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. It is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you.

The process varies, depending on the browser you use.

Customers who have their security set up for private browsing, will be required to re-register each time at login. This is caused by the cookies being deleted daily. In order for the device to be recognized the cookies need to be intact.

There are several simple and effective security techniques we encourage you to implement when you use Online Banking:

  1. MEMORIZE your user ID and password. Be sure your password is unique and doesn't contain personal information or is something easy to guess.
  2. NEVER allow your Internet browser to store your information. Many browsers will ask you to save this information so you don't have to type it every time you use an online service. Although useful, storing personal access codes in this manner is a big security risk.
  3. Change your password frequently by logging in and using the "Change Password" option located in the User Options menu.
  4. When you are finished conducting business, use the Log Off button instead of simply closing your browser. This will ensure your secure session has been closed.
  5. Run routine audits on your computer to ensure a virus-free machine.
