ENHANCED OVERDRAFT COVERAGE

Give yourself one less thing to worry about.

Opt in to extra overdraft protection.

Regulatory requirements require you to "opt in" to overdraft coverage programs that authorize transaction types not currently covered by standard overdraft coverage, such as ATM and one-time debit card transactions. We call this Enhanced Overdraft Coverage.
To opt in and enjoy the next level of protection, please stop by your local branch or call 800.455.6126. You may revoke this authorization at any time.

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.
Our standard practice is to provide all eligible checking accounts with standard overdraft coverage. This is a discretionary program; we will strive to pay your checks and automatic payments when you don’t have enough funds in your account to cover the transaction(s).
Our standard overdraft fee of $34 per item up to six per business day may apply. In addition, if your account is overdrawn for four or more consecutive business days, we may charge an additional $5 per business day, maximum of 15 business days.

With standard overdraft coverage, we authorize and pay overdrafts for the following transactions up to the account limit:

  • Checks
  • Over-the-counter withdrawals
  • ACH transactions (including automatic bill payments and Online Bill Pay transactions)
  • Recurring debit card transactions (online subscriptions, gym memberships, etc.)
Our standard coverage does not automatically include coverage for ATM and one-time debit card transactions. To extend your coverage to your ATM and one-time debit card transactions that might overdraw your account, you must opt in to Enhanced Overdraft Coverage.
We also offer overdraft protection plans, such as linking to a savings account and/or a line of credit, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices.

Under our standard overdraft practices, we may charge you a fee of up to $34 each time we pay an overdraft, with a maximum of six per day. Also, if your account is overdrawn for four or more consecutive business days, we may charge an additional $5 per business day, for a maximum of 15 business days.

Heritage Bank’s standard practice is to provide all eligible checking accounts with Standard Heritage Overdraft Coverage. This is a discretionary program where we will strive to pay your checks and automatic payments when you don’t have enough funds in your account to cover the transaction(s). With standard overdraft coverage , the Bank authorizes and pays overdrafts for the following transactions up to the account limit:

With Enhanced Overdraft Coverage, you are authorizing us to strive to pay the following types of transactions when you don’t have enough funds in your account to cover the transaction(s):

  • ATM transactions
  • One-time debit card transactions

If you “Opt In” to enhanced coverage, this means you are authorizing us to strive to pay these items. Our standard overdraft fees would apply.

If you “Opt Out” of enhanced coverage, this means when a transaction you are attempting is for more than the available balance in our account, your transaction will be declined and no fee will be assessed.
